At Oak Farm Primary School, we want every child to develop the confidence, skills and positive attitudes they need to enjoy physical activity and lead healthy, active lives. We recognise the important role that high-quality physical education, sport and active play have in supporting pupils’ physical health, wellbeing, teamwork, resilience and wider personal development.

The PE and Sport Premium funding is used strategically to strengthen the quality of our PE provision, increase opportunities for pupils to be physically active and ensure that improvements are sustainable.

Our priorities include:

• Developing the knowledge, confidence and expertise of teachers and support staff so that pupils receive consistently high-quality PE lessons.

• Providing a well-sequenced and ambitious PE curriculum that develops pupils’ knowledge, skills and physical confidence from EYFS through to Year 6.

• Reviewing and updating PE resources and equipment to support effective curriculum delivery.

• Using monitoring, pupil voice and participation information to identify strengths and areas for further development within PE and school sport.

• Providing appropriate professional development, coaching and support for staff.

• Increasing opportunities for pupils to participate in a broad range of sports, physical activities and competitive events.

• Developing lunchtime provision so that pupils have access to purposeful, structured and enjoyable physical activities.

• Supporting midday supervisors and other staff to lead active games and activities during lunchtimes.

• Providing a varied programme of extra-curricular clubs and activities that encourages pupils of different ages, interests and abilities to participate.

• Identifying and supporting pupils who are less physically active or who may experience barriers to participating in sport and physical activity.

• Developing pupil leadership through opportunities such as Sports Leaders and other pupil-led activities.

• Working with external partners and local organisations to broaden the sporting opportunities available to our pupils.

• Ensuring that PE and Sport Premium funding contributes to sustainable improvements that continue to benefit pupils beyond the period of funding.

Measuring the impact

We will evaluate the impact of our PE and Sport Premium funding through:

• Monitoring the quality and consistency of PE teaching and curriculum implementation.

• Gathering pupil voice to understand pupils’ experiences, enjoyment and confidence in PE and sport.

• Reviewing participation in lunchtime activities, after-school clubs, competitions and sporting events.

• Monitoring the participation of different groups of pupils to ensure that opportunities are inclusive and accessible.

• Evaluating the impact of staff professional development on teachers’ confidence, subject knowledge and practice.

• Reviewing the range and quality of PE and sports equipment and resources.

• Evaluating progress against our PE action plan and identifying priorities for further improvement.

Our aim is for all pupils at Oak Farm Primary School to be physically active, confident and motivated, developing positive habits and an enjoyment of physical activity that can continue throughout their lives.
